Cat. #00041923: GENE AUTRY

Neat 8x10-inch black and white publicity portrait in his prime, boldly signed in black marker with his name alone.  In very good condition and nice for display.  Between 1934 and 1953, beloved "singing cowboy" Gene Autry appeared in 93 films and 91 episodes of The Gene Autry Show on T.V., personifying the honest, fearless straight-shooting hero. He is also a titanic figure in the history of country music, considered, along with Jimmie Rodgers, one of the two most influential artists of the genre's earliest days.  In addition to his signature song "Back in the Saddle Again", Autry made the definitive recordings of several popular Christmas tunes, including "Here Comes Santa Claus", which he composed, "Frosty the Snowman" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer".
